Identity and privilege resource pack

Looking for simple, straightforward activities to explore different forms of privilege and identity with kids and teens?

Explore different forms of privilege and identity with kids and teens ages 7 - 14 with this activity pack that can be used at home, in the classroom, and in congregations and community groups.

In this printable pack of activities for ages 7 to 14, young people will:

  • learn how to identify the personal and social identities that make them who they are.
  • share their identities through a writing and drawing activity.
  • explore how our society treats some identities as “normal,” and how this affects people.
  • answer reflection questions to identify which groups of people have the most and least power in society.
  • learn key terms related to privilege and identity.
  • create a wheel of privilege to understand how many different forms of identity intersect.

I created this resource based on a series of activities I did with my 11 year old son about how different aspects of our identities give us more or less power and privilege.

The activity pack expands on these lessons and also offers beginner to advanced versions of the central activity – creating a wheel of who has privilege and power in the child’s country.

The activities can be completed by an individual child with the support of an adult, or as a group.
